What is the Portage Community CancerCare Program?

A longstanding and innovative program of CancerCare Manitoba that works in partnership with the Regional Health Authority to enable patients to receive their cancer care and treatment closer to home.

Provides cancer care across the entire cancer spectrum:

  • Prevention
  • Detection
  • Diagnosis
  • Treatment
  • Follow up

Who we are:

A team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other health professionals who have received specialized training in oncology.

What we provide:

  • ongoing chemotherapy and related treatments in collaboration with oncologists
  • patient education on chemotherapy agents, their side effects, and management of side effects
  • ongoing patient support
  • access to multidisciplinary team
  • Approximately 1900 visits to Chemotherapy per annually

Cancer Navigation Services:

A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming; fearing the unknown and navigating the health care system can be a confusing process. Cancer Navigation can guide and support cancer patients and their families throughout their entire cancer journey.

A team of physicians, registered nurses, and a psychosocial oncology clinician

What we provide:

  • -facilitate timely and appropriate access to cancer care system
  • -access to the resources and services you need
  • -connect patients with psychosocial, financial and educational resources
  • -listen to your needs, and assist you to find answers to your questions and concerns

Manitoba TeleHealth:

Through internet connection, we are able to give patients access to oncologist or other specialist appointments by video.
