Acute CareThe purpose of acute care services is to provide active treatment to reduce the impact of medical conditions or disorders. Acute care services are needed for short periods of time, in contrast to chronic or continuing care. Chronic care services provide ongoing periodic treatment required for managing longer-term disorders, such as kidney disease and multiple sclerosis.
